2009 - 2010 Society Executive Officers
Danny Olsen (President)
DANNY OLSEN first became involved with the New Westminster and District band in 1967 as a boy, when he joined the beginner band under the direction of Tom Turner. He progressed through the different sections of the band and was privileged to go on the Senior band’s Northern Trip to Whitehorse, and then later, in his last year of high school take the trip to Denmark and participate in the World Band Festival under the direction of John White. In those days the band was strictly for school age kids, and so he left the band until his own children became part of the playing groups. Danny’s children and his wife, Stephanie, have all made their way through the different sections of the band and at one point, for a few years, all of the Olsen family were playing in the Senior Concert Band section at the same time. Danny is currently the President of the New Westminster and District Band Society when he is not playing in the Senior, Intermediate, and Jazz band sections. When he is not playing music, he is the Control Operations Manager for B.C.R.T.C. (SkyTrain).

The Society has an annual general meeting every year in October. All adult members of the band, and at least one parent or guardian of youth members, are expected to attend. At the AGM the executive of the society for the following year is elected. We encourage new members to join the committee. The executive meets monthly from September to June on the second Wednesday of each month.
